Research Interests
My main statistical research interests are in the following areas:
- Statistical methodology applied to food authenticity studies.
- Statistical aspect of forensic soil analysis.
- Bayesian spatial-temporal modelling.
- Climate envelope models for ecological data sets.
- Constrained optimisation for ordinal response regression models.
Current and Recent Projects
- Creating a scientific definition for New Zealand MÄnuka Honey.
- Use of spectroscopic data to estimate quantities of trace minerals in soil samples.
- Estimating collision risk for bats at wind farms.
- Modelling translocation of lichen species in montane habitats.
- Application of item response theory to data on work-life balance and the relationship with pro-environmental behaviour.
- Estimating the number of deer in the Scottish uplands.
- Analysis of seabird tracking data.
- The effect of between-sample heterogeneity on standard statistical model selection methods.
