My PhD title is “The role of habitat and prey quality in marine mammal decision-making within a developing offshore wind landscape” and aims to investigate the effects of offshore wind farms on seal prey quality, and seal diving behaviour, movements, energetics, and spatial distributions. I am based at the Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU), University of St Andrews under the supervision of Dr Gordon Hastie (SMRU), Dr Sophie Smout (SMRU) and Dr Katherine Whyte (BioSS). My work falls within the scope of the Predators and Prey Around Renewable Energy Developments (PrePARED) project (funded by The Crown Estate and Crown Estate Scotland) in collaboration with SMRU Consulting, BioSS, University of Aberdeen, University of Exeter, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, and Marine Scotland Science.
