Senior Statistician for Plant and Crop Sciences

Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS) seeks a senior statistician with an interest in developing statistical research and consultancy in plant and crop sciences. With rapidly evolving technologies producing complex and powerful data sets, this position offers exciting opportunities for a committed and innovative statistician to build a stimulating career in a dynamic and collegial working environment.

BioSS has an international reputation for methodological development in statistics, mathematical modelling, bioinformatics and statistical genomics. Through our work in research, consultancy and training, BioSS aims to provide a better understanding of uncertainty, variation and risk.

Our current work in plant and crop sciences develops cutting-edge research and delivers high-quality statistical consultancy support, built on strong long-term relationships and knowledge exchange with our collaborators. We are seeking a statistician to join us to work on multi-disciplinary projects in plant and crop sciences, to develop research proposals in this area, and to contribute to the growth of our organisation as we expand our expertise and strength as a centre of quantitative applied research and consultancy. The successful post-holder will have the opportunity to address real-world problems, collaborating with industry, government agencies and policy-makers, academia, and other research organisations. As well as technical skills, we are therefore also seeking to recruit a statistician with excellent communication skills, who is enthusiastic about communicating their work with different audiences and collaborators.
