Since November 2020, Dr Thibaud Porphyre is the Head of the IDEXLyon Industrial Chair in Veterinary Public Health at VetAgro Sup, the veterinary and agricultural college of Lyon. His chair is supported by the Veterinary Public Health Hub of Lyon and under the supervision of VetAgro Sup, CNRS (the French Centre for Scientific Research), Claude Bernard University - Lyon 1 and Boehringer Ingelheim. An ecologist by training, Thibaud Porphyre received his PhD in epidemiology in 2008 from Massey University in New Zealand. After several postdoctoral fellowships at INRAE/CIRAD in the French West Indies and at the Royal Veterinary College in London, he joined the University of Edinburgh in 2011 where he worked as a research fellow at the Scottish Government-funded Centre of Expertise on Animal Disease Outbreaks (EPIC). His work focuses on risk evaluation and modelling infectious animal diseases to improve surveillance and control strategies, and to support government and industry decision making. Thibaud is also the course co-coordinator of the new elective course of the MSc Public Health “One Health – Managing Health of Populations”, focusing on the One Health approach to support decision-making for managing complex health problems, held at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
