I studied my BSc with Hons. in Biology at the University of Nottingham, completing my second year at the University of Toronto. I then studied my MSc in Animal Behaviour at the University of Exeter. While studying for these degrees, I developed a keen interest in ecology & evolution, and how these relate to behaviour. I have also worked as a research assistant for multiple research groups, such as the PEC group and the Qvarnström Flycatcher Project.
I completed my NERC-funded PhD research at the University of Exeter, as part of the CRAB group studying tactical adjustment of dynamic courtship behaviours using state-dependent dynamic game models and data collected from a wild populations of invertebrates, supervised by Dr Tim Fawcett and Dr Safi Darden. I then went on to work as a postdoctoral research associate with Dr Joah Madden, funded by APHA and BASC and working with GWCT, to analyse and model released game bird dispersal. I then joined BioSS as a statistician/modeller in ecology and environmental science with BioSS in December 2024.
I have a keen interest in the intersection (and sometimes disconnect between) between theory, what we observe in nature, and our statistical approaches for understanding these across a whole range of biological sciences.
