Adrian Roberts, Ian Nevison and Tess Vernon attended the Working Seminar on Statistical Methods in Variety Testing in Poznan, Poland from 04/07/22 to 08/07/22.

They presented three talks, on the subjects:

  • Quantifying and mitigating shading effects in winter barley trials - presented by Ian Nevison
  • A comparison of different within-trial analysis approaches to spatial variation - presented by Tess Vernon
  • Variety effects: Fixed or Random? The value of random vs fixed effects for regional recommendations - presented by Tess Vernon

The group enjoyed listening to many interesting presentations from colleagues worldwide on methodological developments in variety testing, and also attended a fantastic tour of a plant breeding company.
