Our colleagues Martin Knight and Stephen Catterall recently attended the ModStatsSAP workshop in Paris, which focussed on mathematical and statistical modelling applied to animal and plant pathogens. Modellers from France and the United Kingdom were invited to discuss their research and form new collaborative links. A panel discussion on the two-way relationship between modellers and policymakers highlighted the crucial role of mathematical modelling in combatting emerging disease outbreaks. Stephen presented a poster on EPIC work, titled “Modelling disease spread when the populations at risk are poorly mapped”. Martin presented a poster on RESAS work, titled “Disease risk-based trading in the Scottish cattle trading system”. More details about the workshop can be found here.
