Our colleagues Katherine Whyte and Altea Lorenzo-Arribas participated on the 10th of December in a "Trusted Communicator" bespoke training programme. The training was organised by SEFARI and was conducted by David Lee Media and Events in the Moredun Research Institute.

The training programme, which involved all six of the SEFARI research institutes, is being funded with the support of the Scottish Government. The intention is that participants will become a SEFARI Trusted Communicator: someone who either BioSS, SEFARI, or the government may draw upon to explain aspects of science fact in the media, or discuss the science behind specific news events.

The training session involved mock news interviews on specialist topics to practice answering different types of questions, and get familiar with both in-person and online-style interviews. The training also provided great insights on how to interact with the media professionals, as well as how to best communicate scientific topics to a general audience.
