We are delighted to announce that our BioSS colleague, Professor Iain McKendrick, has been appointed as a member of the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission.

The commission acts as an independent advisory body, and has a particular focus on protecting the welfare of wild and companion animals and giving scientific and ethical advice to government. It advises on how the welfare needs of animals are being met by devolved policy, possible legislative and non-legislative routes to further protect their welfare, and the research requirements to provide an evidence base for future policy development in this area.
