Our Director Professor Mark Brewer recently took part in the VIBASS8 workshop, an event held annually in the Spanish city of València.

The VIBASS series of workshops combines an introductory course on the basics of Bayesian Statistics, with more advanced training given in a specialist topic. In 2025, the advanced training was delivered by Dr Javier Enrique Aguilar of the Universities of Stuttgart and Dortmund.

Mark gave a seminar on Hierarchical Bayesian Modelling, showing how well the Bayesian approach is suited to modelling random effects, and led a practical session using a range of Bayesian software accessed from R.
