BioSS at a Probabilistic Risk Analysis and Bayesian Decision Theory Workshop in Lübeck
Our Director Professor Mark Brewer co-presented a course at the ‘Probabilistic Risk Analysis and Bayesian Decision Theory’ workshop at the University of Lübeck in Germany over the 24th-26th September 2025.
The workshop, organised jointly between the German Region of the International Biometric Society and by the Forest Biometry and Informatics Section of the German Association of Forest Research Institutes, consisted of several talks and tutorials that considered a range of techniques and applications in these areas, including in agent-based modelling of mosquito infections, socioeconomic gradients behind cancer risks, and benchmarking advanced MCMC sampler routines.
Mark co-presented, alongside Marcel van Oijen, a dedicated tutorial throughout the workshop, which focused on applying the NIMBLE software package for implementing fully Bayesian Probabilistic Risk Analysis.
