Consultancy and Research Interests

My consultancy work is focused on applications of mathematical and statistical modellings in the area of Animal Health and Welfare. I am also interested in statistical modelling of gene expression data. My work typically involves collaboration with scientists from the Moredun Research Institute and the Scottish Agricultural College.

My research work is part of the System and Process Modelling research theme. My specific interest is in the application of statistical and mathematical modelling techniques to problems in veterinary epidemiology, particularly those incorporating a genetic dimension.

Current projects

• Towards an integrated measurement of meat eating quality
• Host parasite interactions, including the potential for the control of sheep scab using immunological approaches, and the development of diagnostic tools
• Modelling the dynamics of roundworm infection in sheep under different management conditions
• Statistical modelling of data on farm management to interface with dynamic programming models for economic evaluation
