Research Interests

  • Development and novel application of statistical modelling techniques to further research in the ecological, environmental and agricultural sciences.
  • Spatio-temporal modelling of population distribution and abundance
  • Applications of random effect models using REML and MCMC methods

Current & Recent Projects

  • Modelling travelling waves in vole abundance at the landscape scale
  • Predicting population dynamics in a changing environment
  • Statistical consultant for the NERC's Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, Banchory
  • Statistical input to 10-year monitoring programme for Environmentally Sensitive Areas in Scotland
  • Estimating the power of biodiversity monitoring schemes
  • Multivariate random effect modelling of diet selection data
  • Revision and delivery of BioSS course 'Introduction to REML for Scientists'
