Neighbourhood
of Xi is a set of indices of points whose x values are close to Xi
A Scatterplot Smoother
is a tool for fitting arbitrary smooth functions to a scatterplot of data
points. The smoother summerises the trend of the response variable as a function
of the predictor variables.
The Span
is the proportion of the total number of points that are included in a
neighbourhood
