These notes describe some of the basic statistical operations which may be useful when examining data using the PC Windows version of S-Plus.

S-Plus is a powerful computer package for interactive data exploration, producing graphs and performing many standard and non-standard statistical operations. S-Plus is well suited to the analysis of data from many scientific fields.

Here S-Plus is used to do the statistical calculations and draw graphs in the analysis of several example data sets. No previous familiarity with the statistical ideas covered, or with S-Plus, is assumed.

If S-Plus for Windows is accessible from your computer then these notes can be used to best effect by opening a S-Plus window alongside your Web browser window and, as you move through the pages, performing the operations as described in the notes.
