These notes describe some of the basic statistical operations which may be
useful when exploring data using <b>SAS/Insight</b>.
<p>
<b>SAS/Insight</b> is a module of the <b>SAS System</b> but it provides a
higher level of interactivity than other modules. It is useful for defining,
exploring and analysing data quickly and easily.
<p>
The pages which follow do not assume any previous familiarity with the
statistical ideas covered, or with <b>SAS</b>. Here <b>SAS/Insight</b> is just
used to do the statistical calculations and draw graphs in the analysis of
several example data sets.
<p>
If SAS is accessible from your computer, then these notes can be used to best
effect by opening a <b>SAS</b> session alongside your Web browser window and,
as you move through the pages, performing the <b>SAS</b> operations as
described in the notes.
