TABULATION (CONTINUED) |
|
To make changes to a pivot table once it has been created, select any data cell in the table, bring up the mouse shortcut menu (right button) and choose the option you want. For instance, you can add other variables to the table or delete them. Using the Field... option, you could change say, stdev of windsp to variance.
Alternatively a range of options are available by highlighting the pivot table
you want to change and clicking on the Pivot Table Icon change button (see right).
The icon could be amongst the buttons at the top of the screen instead of on
the Excel worksheet.
A dialog box appears. The one shown here was activated by
selecting the winddir button on the worksheet pivot table and clicking on
the Pivot Table > Field.. option of the pivot table menu bar.
You can hide
items (categories) from a field, such as the missing values from the winddir
field by highlighting the item and clicking OK.
You can choose various options for output. For example, to get the
table on the right, try % of column from the options at step 3 of 4 of the Pivot Table Wizard.
If you obtain a horizontal table then click Row in the orientation panel of the Pivot Table Field.
Filtering data in a pivot table
To filter data in a pivot table, use the page field, shown in step 3 of the pivot
table wizard. This breaks the data up into separate pages so that summary
statistics can be viewed for one value of a field at a time. To produce the table below,
put the average of humidity in the data section, hour in the row
section and drag day to the area marked page. When first produced, this table shows
all values for day and the top line has the word "All" in a box. If you click on the arrow
beside this box, you can choose a particular value of day. The following table is day 4.
