Areas of Work

I lead the Statistical Genomics and Bioinformatics research theme within BioSS. My own  work focuses on the statistical and bioinformatical analysis of high-dimensional molecular data, so-called “omics” data. The main source of such data has been gene-expression studies that based on RNA-sequencing. I am also involved in the analysis of proteomic and metabolomic studies. A particular interest of mine is the integration of various such data sets. These can be different technologies (transcriptomics, proteomics) applied to the same samples but I am also working on meta-analysis type methods trying to combine information across different experiments that tackle the same (or similar) research questions.

I am currently also leading the BioSS Wastewater Analysis team, which conducts statistical analysis for the Scottish COVID-19 Wastewater Monitoring program.
