Training
ALARM training course on environmental risk assessment
As part of the BioSS contribution to ALARM, we are developing a online training course on quantitative methods for biodiversity risk assessment: the first (trial) module on compositional data analysis is now available. Modules on spatial statistics, mathematical modelling, extreme value methods and land use downscaling are currently under development, and further modules on other topics are also planned.
Workshops
The BioSS team contributed to the following workshops:
- Statistical methods for species traits,
in: 3rd ALARM general meeting, Athens, 2007 - A risk assessment toolkit for European biodiversity,
in: 2nd and 3rd ALARM general meetings (Lisbon, 2006 and Athens, 2007) - Probabilistic future climate and climate impact prediction, Edinburgh, 2006
- Analysing Spatial Ecological Data, Leipzig-Halle, 2005
Other courses at BioSS
BioSS runs short courses on topics in statistical, mathematics and bioinformatics. The courses are aimed at scientists working in biology, ecology and agriculture, and are held at locations throughout Scotland. Further details (including schedules and prices) are available on the BioSS training pages.
